In-house production
An unserem Fertigungsstandort produzieren wir im Schichtbetrieb auf über 2000m2. Mehrere hochmoderne Reaktor-/ Rühranlagen stehen uns für eine kontinuierliche Produktion zur Verfügung. Hierbei arbeiten wir zur Hochskalierung unserer Produktion mit einem sogenannten "Upnumbering-Verfahren". Die Steuerung erfolgt über eine maßgeschneiderte KI-Lösung, die nahtlos in unsere CRM-, ERP- und MES-Systeme integriert ist.

Aquasil 20 von Pigmentsolution ist eine VOC-freie, lagerstabile wässrige Emulsion eines organofunktionellen Silans. Das Produkt wurde speziell entwickelt, um die Adhesion of water-based paint and coating systems on difficult substrates to be significantly improved. (Pigmentsolution GmbH)
The reactive silane groups enable a strong chemical or covalent bonding to substrates such as aluminium, pre-treated steel, glass, ceramics and cementitious surfaces. At the same time, existing epoxy groups can allow for the incorporation of the additive into the coating matrix. Additionally, according to the manufacturer improvements in corrosion protection are to be expected. (Pigmentsolution GmbH)
A significant advantage is the long-term stability in water-based formulations: Aquasil 20 can be directly incorporated into the finished formulation and does not need to be added immediately before use – unlike many conventional silanes. The manufacturer describes formulations with a shelf stability of more than six months at room temperature while maintaining very good adhesion properties. (Pigmentsolution GmbH)
Aquasil 20 contains about 20 % active silane, has a density of approximately 1.03 g/cm³ and is recommended at a usage concentration of about 2–5 % based on the total formulation Typical applications include water-based industrial and baking paints as well as coatings in the automotive and industrial sectors. Aquasil 20 = VOC-free, water-based silane adhesion promoter for significantly better adhesion on critical substrates, high storage stability and potentially improved corrosion protection.
PS-GPS (“Good-Buffer System”) from Pigmentsolution is a functional buffer system for water-based paints, coatings and other aqueous formulations. It has been developed to long-term stabilise the pH value, particularly in the range of about pH 8.5 to 11.4.
The central buffer component used is Tricin, a so-called Good’s Buffer. According to the manufacturer, the system is characterised by high chemical stability and good compatibility with other formulation components . At the same time, PS-GPS is intended to suppress microbiological growth in aqueous systems, without acting as a classic biocide. The product is described as biocide-free and label-free .
Für Farben und Lacke wird eine Einsatzkonzentration von etwa 0,2–0,6 %, für Klebstoffe etwa 0,2-0,8 % bezogen auf die Gesamtformulierung empfohlen. Das Additiv kann grundsätzlich an unterschiedlichen Stellen des Produktionsprozesses zugesetzt werden.
PS-GPS = biocide-free, label-free buffer system for long-term pH stabilisation of aqueous formulations, which can simultaneously support microbiological stability. Particularly interesting for colours, paints and adhesives, where a stable alkaline pH value is crucial for storage stability and product quality.

Matting agents
The PS matting agents from Pigmentsolution are based on synthetic amorphous silica developed additives for the targeted reduction of gloss levels in paints and coatings. They are particularly used in furniture and parquet lacquers, industrial paints, UV systems and printing inks.
The products are characterised by a high matting performance even at relatively low addition levels as well as good dispersibility and stable suspension behaviour in the paint. At the same time, they should only minimally affect the mechanical properties of the paint film such as hardness, flexibility and weather resistance. Other advantages include high shear and grinding stability, no hard sediments during storage, no impairment of intercoat adhesion and a clear, high-quality surface.
For high-solid coatings the PS-Matt series has been specifically developed so that the particles interact with the viscoelastic forces of the coating system during film formation, thereby producing a good matting even with low film shrinkage. For water-dilutable systems there is the product range PS-Matt-W, which is additionally designed for easy incorporation, low dust generation, short wetting times, and reduced foam formation.
PS-Matt = effective, amorphous silica matting agents for high-quality matte paint and coating surfaces with minimal impact on the other film properties.
Wetters & Additives
The PS wetters and additives of the Tionox series are based on special acetylenic diols and are multifunctional additives for aqueous and solvent-containing formulations. Their focus is on a strong and rapid reduction of dynamic surface tension, allowing pigments and difficult-to-wet substrates to be significantly better wetted.
In particular Tionox 104 acts simultaneously as a wetting agent, dispersing agent, leveling agent, and defoamer. This allows typical surface defects such as craters, fish eyes, and wetting disturbances reduzieren. Zusätzlich kann das Additiv Mikroschaum verringern, den Verlauf verbessern und die Pigmentdispergierung beziehungsweise Mahleffizienz unterstützen.
The Tionox-400 series includes variants with different degrees of ethoxylation. With increasing ethoxylation, water solubility increases: for example, Surfactant 420 more strongly designed for defoaming, while Surfactant 485 has the highest hydrophilicity.
Typical areas of application are coatings and paints, printing inks, adhesives, latex systems, pigment dispersions, emulsion polymerisation, metalworking fluids and agricultural formulations. Another advantage over some silicone or fluorine-containing additives is, according to the manufacturer, the good recoatability or repaintability.
Tionox = multifunctional wetting and surface additives for better wetting, lower surface tension, less foam, better dispersion and a more uniform application of coatings.
Photocatalytic pigments
The photocatalytic pigments PS-Photonox from Pigmentsolution are based on specially developed titanium dioxide (TiO₂). Under the influence of UV light, highly reactive radicals are formed on the pigment surface, which can oxidatively degrade various organic and inorganic pollutants. The photocatalyst itself is not consumed in the process and can therefore remain active for a long time.
PS-Photonox kann unter anderem zum Abbau von Nitrogen oxides (NOx), sulfur oxides, VOCs and organic pollutants contribute. Additionally, they can reduce or inhibit the settlement of bacteria, mould spores, algae and moss . This allows treated surfaces to have a self-cleaning and antimicrobial effect .
The pigments are specifically designed for integration into various materials, such as paints and coatings, facade coatings, cement-bound building materials and paving stones. They can also be applied directly to surfaces or to filter media for air treatment systems.
In a test described on the website according to ISO 22197-1 , a concrete test specimen made with Photonox achieved an NO reduction of around 7.14 mg NO/m²·h, which is rated by Pigmentsolution as very good photocatalytic activity.
PS-Photonox = photocatalytic TiO₂ pigments that break down pollutants and organic contaminants using light, thereby giving surfaces air-purifying, self-cleaning and antimicrobial properties.
Matting pastes
The PS-matting pastes from Pigmentsolution are highly concentrated, ready-to-use dispersions of matting agents that allow for particularly easy and uniform incorporation into paint and coating systems. The aim of the development is to formulate as high concentrations of matting agents as possible stably in a paste, so that users can work dust-free, reproducibly and efficiently.
Both water-based systems with PS Matt 112 and solvent-based systems with PS Matt 601. Suitable dispersing additives significantly increased the achievable solid concentrations: For PS Matt 112, for example, from around 16 % without additive to up to 26–30 %, with sedimentation issues potentially occurring at the highest concentration.
For the solvent-based PS Matt 601 the maximum concentration could be increased from about 14 % without additive to up to 34 % . The studies thus show that the selection of the appropriate dispersing additive is crucial for high pigment loading, good flowability and storage stability of the matting paste.
PS matting pastes = highly concentrated, pre-formulated matting dispersions for water- and solvent-based paints, enabling easy, dust-free dosing, good dispersion and reproducible matting.
Corrosion protection
The corrosion protection products from Pigmentsolution are functional pigment and additive solutions for coatings that are intended to protect metallic surfaces in the long term from corrosion, moisture and aggressive environmental influences . They are intended as a functional component for industrial coating systems and corrosion protection paints.
The approach of Pigmentsolution lies in the development application-specific high-performance materials. By specifically adjusted particle properties and compositions, the corrosion protection properties of a coating can be improved and tailored to the respective binder and application system.
Typical areas of application include metal coatings, industrial protective paints, machine and plant construction, as well as components exposed to moisture or weathering.
PS corrosion protection = functional pigment and additive solutions to improve the protective effect of coatings against corrosion and environmental influences – individually adjustable to different coating systems and applications.

Testing services
With our testing and analysis services we support customers in the evaluation, optimisation and quality assurance of raw materials, formulations and finished products. Practical testing, reproducible results and application-oriented interpretation of the results are the focus.
Depending on the task, we examine among other things physical, chemical and application-related properties of materials and coating systems. This includes, for example, the assessment of stability, adhesion, surface properties, durability, processing, as well as the comparative evaluation of different formulations or raw materials.
Test programmes can be individually tailored to the respective requirements and used for product developments, quality controls, benchmarking, as well as for root cause analysis in technical issues.
At the request of our clients, we not only accompany them in the execution of the tests but also in the evaluation of the results and the derivation of concrete optimisation measures.
